The electronic recycling process at Summit E-Waste starts immediately after one of three things happens.

  1. Someone drops off electronics to be recycled
  2. We pick up old electronics from a business or organization
  3. We pack up after one of our community e-recycling events

Once the electronics are in our hands we begin by evaluating the electronic and what its current status is. This includes testing the device functionality, to see if the device has any defects or broken internal components. If a device does not work, we figure out which parts of the device do work. Once we have carefully checked every part of the device we do 1 of 2 things. If the device is working, we reset it to the factory setting can wipe any data from it. If the device is not working, we take it apart and separate the components into groups of what works and what does not work.

Once the above process is complete, we take the rest devices and work to find them a new home. For the devices that are not working, we take the working parts and offer them to other people and organizations who are in need of the specific part in order to repair a device they have.

The Goal of Electronic Recycling Process

At Summit E-Waste, the goal of electronic recycling process is to reduce, if not completely eliminate, the amount of waste going into landfills and dumps. We do this by rehoming and repurposing as much of the device as possible.

For example, say someone drops off an old iPhone that has a cracked screen. If we have a screen from another phone, we will repair it and look to find a collector that is missing that model from their collection. If we do not have a screen or we cannot find one, we will disassemble the phone and take out all of the components that are still functioning. We would then list them online individually so that someone who needs a camera for their phone or a battery, could find and make the repairs.

Electronic recycling process involves a lot of stages and we are ready for the task at hand. From sorting to testing and listing we handle it all for you so that you can confidently know that your electronics are being taken care of in a way that benefits the planet, not just the pockets of others. When we get a tv, a phone, a printer, or even an old guitar hero guitar, we do everything in our power to keep it out of landfills.

IF you have an old electronic device, or a box sitting in the attic collecting dust filled with cords, batteries, and other small items,  its time you let it go through our electronic recycling process. We would be happy to help you recycle it properly.

We do not turn down any electronic items regardless of their age, condition, or purpose. We have even added vape and electronic cigarettes to our list of items that we accept as we noticed a large number of people who had old devices, batteries, and other accessories they had no use for.
